Map shows the site of Williamsburg in 1781 as
drawn by French engineers. The map is oriented east (top)
to west (bottom). The French troops are shown in blue and
the US troops in yellow. The various army groups are the
following: Washington (16) and Rochambeau (13 and
14) are stationed at the eastern end of the town in the
direction of Yorktown. Saint-Simon (9 and 10) and
Lafayette (12) are at the western end. French artillery
(15) is located to the west, next to the William &
Mary University (5).
